Kristin’s Master Scone Recipe
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 ½ sticks cold butter, cut into pieces
½ cup heavy cream
1 - 1½ cups additions of your choice (dried fruit, chocolate chips, nuts, etc.)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a food processor, combine the butter and flour until well combined. Pour into a mixing bowl and add sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to combine. Add in your extra ingredients. Add the heavy cream to the mixture.
Split the dough in half and form into two 1-inch thick disks and cut into wedges. Alternately, roll out the dough on a floured surface and use a cookie cutter or drinking class to shape dough into circles.
Sprinkle each scone with sugar and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 17-18 minutes, turning the pan halfway through.
